On June 22, Hommes et Terre Senegal was invited to the office of Oumar Mamadou Balde, the Governor of the region of Tambacounda in Senegal. After hearing about our achievements and plans for the coming years in the Tambacounda region, and a meeting with representatives of our partner villages, the Governor administred a land right concession  for our sites in restoration – currently 4.000 ha, but we are working towards 15.000 ha in the Tambacounda region. With the support of local authorities being vital in Senegal, this was an important milestone.

In the beginning of August, the Governor officially signed this land right concession, securing our ecosystem investments for the next 30 years. This means our sites are from now on protected by the government, and part of a patrimony that is formally managed by Hommes et Terre. A victory for the environment, and an important step forward for the success of Hommes Et Terre and its partner communities in Senegal.
