With our reforested sites being too big to fence (250 ha), protection has always been a challenge. Especially during the first few years, our young trees are very vulnerable, and good protection is therefore very important. From now on, our sites in Senegal will be guarded by a team of Hommes Verts. After an intensive training, they signed their contracts last week. 

They will patrol the restored sites daily, on the lookout for grazing herds, forest fires, illegal loggers and other potential dangers. They will truly be shepherds of the forest! And when they are not busy guarding our trees, they will be mobilizing their fellow villagers for a variety of activities such as mowing our sites and collecting seeds, or simply spreading the word about the importance of the forest.
